77% Sold by Lot / 90% Sold by Value The top lot across all three auctions was Richard Avedon’s(1923–2004), Dovima with Elephants, Evening Dress by Dior, Cirque d’Hiver, Paris, 1955 which realized $615,000; the second highest auction price achieved for this image by Avedon. Other stellar results were achieved for Edward Steichen’s (1879–1973) Loretta Young, Hollywood, August 1931 which realized $38,000 against an estimate of $10,000-15,000 and Irving Penn’s (1917–2009) Harlequin Dress(Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), NY, 1950 which realized $260,000. Other outstanding results were achieved for Paul Strand’s(1890–1976) The Family, Luzzara, Italy from The Collection of David and Susan Barron which realized $250,000, Diane Arbus’s (1923–1971) A family on their lawn one Sunday in Westchester, N.Y. 1968which realized $275,000 and Edward Weston’s(1886–1958) Nude on Sand, 1936 which outperformed its estimate of $70,000-90,000 and reached a total of $150,000.
