Managed by the Ritz-Carlton chain, this magnificent beachfront hotel occupies 33 floors in one of Barcelona’s tallest landmark skyscrapers, directly facing the sea and the Vila Olímpica, 2.5km northwest of Barcelona’s historic core. The decor is contemporary and the spacious, well-equipped guest rooms have built-in furnishings; generous desk space; and large, sumptuous beds. Clad in pink marble, the deluxe bathrooms have fluffy robes, Belgian towels, dual basins, and phones.
The hotel possesses the city’s only beachside pool — overlooking Frank Gehry’s bronze Peix (fish) sculpture — and its new in-house bars and restaurants, such as Arola, are jump-starting nightlife in the neglected Olympic Marina. The staff are friendly ,incredibly polite and keen tomake it a pleasant experience , obviously the product of Ritz-Carlton training.
The Hotel boasts 4 restaurants; cafe; 2 bars; babysitting; health club & spa; outdoor poolservice and car rental and in the case of Club class guests an electric Smartcar is included in the package free of charge.
Located in the Marina area of Port Olimpico the Hotel Arts is only a few minutes walk from the beach.
The hotel location, although near the city centre, is not in the very heart of the city centre. For most guests this will not a problem as the Metro is only 5 minutes walk away and you are only 4 stops (10 minutes journey by metro) to Passeig de Gracia and the very centre of Barcelona. If you want to walk along the beach to the city centre you have about a 30 minutes walk, or a 10 minute journey by taxi (Approximately €6.00).
As many Hotel guests are with an automobile, the distance is no problem.
On the downside, iff You are one of those people who prefer their hotel to be situated only minutes walk away from where all the action is. If that is what you want you may need to consider another hotel closer to the Ramblas or Placa de Catalunya instead.
However on the upside .one of the advantages to Hotel Arts Barcelona location, apart from the Beach and Marina being close by, you will have a quiet room which means a peaceful night’s sleep..
You should be aware you that the very heart of the city centre is very noisy – especially at night when the city comes alive.
If you require a quiet night’s sleep without noise from the street it’s recommended you stay in a hotel outside of the very centre. In which case the Arts hotel Barcelona is in a perfect location.
Summary
If you are looking for style, beach location, and a guaranteed peaceful nights sleep Hotel Arts Barcelona is an excellent choice especially if you can afford the room rates! You can rest assured that the Barcelona Arts Hotel is worthy of its 5 star Luxury hotel rating – something that cannot be said about some other 5 star hotels in Barcelona.
If you are coming to Barcelona on a special occasion like a wedding anniversary or honeymoon then the Arts hotel is ideally located in one of the most romantic areas of Barcelona (after the Cathedral area -the top romance spot). You can walk along the sea front promenade at night with soft lights, palm trees, and the sound of the sea washing up on the sand.
Restaurants
In addition to the benefits discussed above, The Hotel is home to several of the best Barelona restaurants.
ENOTECA is overseen by the brilliant Catalan chef Paco Pérez, Michelin-starred Enoteca is regarded as one of the highpoints in Barcelona’s culinary scene. Inspired by authentic regional and seasonal flavours, Pérez’s superb and highly imaginative cooking offers a personal, contemporary interpretation of traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Enoteca’s cellar features more than 500 wines.Paco Pérez was already well established as one of the finest cooks on the Costa Brava when he took his post here, elevating Hotel Arts Barcelona’s gourmet dining into the sphere of “modernist cuisine”. His dishes are clean, bright and highly precise allowing single ingredients to be the star of the show: the hallmark of the new Catalan kitchen. Given his provenance, he’s a big proponent of local fish and seafood.
