One of the biggest draws of this restaurant is its location. It is based in Borough Market’s Victorian Floral Hall with windows on three of its sides, including a view of the busy Market below. The restaurant also has an open kitchen and plenty of natural light.
Borough Market’s aim is to supply fresh produce and ingredients and this sentiment is echoed in Roast’s menu. Ultimately Wahhab would like to place the often derided British cuisine on the world map. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and also has an extensive pudding menu. Its wine list was awarded the Notable wine list for 2009 by the AA. It includes some English wines, as well as organic and biodynamic wines. Besides wine the Roast Bar also offers an impressive range of cocktails, including a special cocktail of the week. A fair amount of bar food is also on offer, from chips to rarebit and even rock oysters with Scrubby Oak apple vinegar.A trip to Roast will not turn out to be a budget excursion. The Full Borough Breakfast will cost you £15, however the bill will quickly balloon if you order liberally from the wine list. Roast is a child friendly restaurant with a kids menu.
