*ZACHYS PRESENTS: THE VAULT PART I

THE PRIVATE FINE WINE COLLECTION FROM A UNIQUE SINGLE COLLECTOR

Hong Kong, 22 August, 2016 – To start the fall season, Zachys is honored to announce our September 10th single-owner collection, named THE VAULT, PART I. Over 750 lots, with pre-sale estimates of HK$29.8m – 45.7m/ US$3.8m – 5.9m, will be offered at The Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, with an exclusive focus on Champagne, Bordeaux, and Burgundy. A month later, join Zachys for THE VAULT, PART II on 15th October at Le Bernardin Privé in New York City.

The Incredible Story of a True Collector

The Vault’s consignor started his wine journey over five decades ago. The Vault was born when he was 20 years old, touring the cellars of Beaune with his father and buying, not according to fashion or ratings, but for quality. It then grew into an incredible collection, which is, for the first time, available to any wine lovers around the globe. We’ve called this collection THE VAULT because of the consignor’s focus on pristine storage and provenance. The wines in this collection were carefully sourced, bought on release or at specific auctions, and placed in professional temperature controlled storage, his “vault,” and the key was thrown away…until this auction.

The Stars of the Auction

Just about every lot can be considered a highlight from this collection. The sale is comprised of three main sections: Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy. It begins with an impressive selection of mature champagne from Krug, Dom Pérignon, Salon, as well as the top cuvées from each estate. Highlights includes 6 bottles of Krug Clos d`Ambonnay 1995. The collection moves then into more than 20 lots of large format Château Lafite Rothschild, the oldest being Lafite Rothschild 1959 in imperial. The big bottles is joined by ‘82 Lafleur, ‘85 and ‘89 Le Pin and Pétrus. The Burgundy is the heart and the soul of this collection, and includes DRC Assortments, Large format of La Tâche and 12 bottles of the rare Clos de La Roche Dujac 1990.

With more Roumier, Rousseau, DRC, and de Vogüé, all in rare formats, that has ever come to the auction block at one time, this is not an auction to sit on your paddle.
